I think AP should be expressing gratitude that the reporter and editorial staff weren't shot as traitors. The article is a glaring demonstration of the pervasive unrepentant arrogance of the press. "Freedom of the press" has turned into "oppression by the press".

I have the same question as Rick Gauger's #1, "If the asteroid is broken up into smaller rocks, wouldn't most of these burn up in the atmosphere, thereby significantly mitigating the threat?"

"Newt" would have to be the worst presidential name ever! "Millard" Fillmore wasn't great, but didn't evoke visions of salamander. Furthermore, he was not elected, being Taylor's VP and stepping in upon his death.
